The book is entitled, “Where the Mountain Meets the Moon,” By Grace Lin

This is a storybook that I enjoyed so much that I didn’t want to put it down. It’s a story that is based off of Chinese folklore, which takes place in a fictional world, near China’s great rivers. The time frame of this story takes place around the time when the great emperor stilled ruled China.

I enjoy this story due to the fact that it takes you through so many wonderful adventures. It’s through these many adventures that you learn everyone and everything are somehow interconnected, and it teaches you some of life’s important lessons. You also learn that there are more important things in life than gold and material possessions: like friendship, kindness from others, and the love of family. The author uses a wide use of describing words that helps the reader see and understand the story better. For example, the description of the main character Minli is described as having rosy pink cheeks, glossy black hair, and a lively spirit. It’s this description that helps Minli come alive to the reader and pull in our feelings for the character along the way.
